About her

Vanessa Karel, is a second-time Founder, Serial Entrepreneur, Storyteller, and Creative Producer. She was named as one of the 100 rising Latinx Startup founders to watch by Inicio Ventures and a Latinx to watch by Hispanic Executive through her work founding Greether; a travel startup that helps women travel safer.

Most recently she was the most voted entrepreneur creating impact in Mexico by ASEM. Vanessa is also currently leading Girls in Tech, San Francisco as their Volunteer Manager Director.

Vanessa’s goals are to empower women to help each other while discovering the world.. She is constantly advocating and finding ways to bring up issues that need to be addressed immediately, such as pay gaps, insecurity, and how to build sustainable tourism. “Our long-term goals also include being a tool for women-led SMB owners through Greether by giving them a space and a way to be discovered through our marketplace.”

A letter from our founder

I’ve taken countless risks while I’ve traveled the world, probably more than I’m aware, but I have also met the most wonderful people, often in random ways and created lifelong connections with something I like to call “travel magic” this is a bundled combination of: following my gut, trusting strangers, doing my research and having some luck, being an extrovert also helps.

While I’m aware that unfortunately not everyone and certainly not every single of my trips I will take, will have this magic. I would like to imagine a world where this magic can be enabled easier, especially for women.

We are committed to creating a platform where authentic connections can be made safely, where women empowerment is the goal and where female travelers can leave their economical thumbprint in an ethical way, all of this by making sure there is a double sided and enriching experience with whom they choose to interact and meet as they navigate the world.

That is what Greether is all about, we are working on enabling “travel magic'', by making it easier to find reliable sources that will give unforgettable cultural experiences and a sense of comfort away from home. You are such a special part of this magical journey, and we thank you for believing in the power that comes with our mission.
